About the Kuvasz

The Kuvasz (plural: Kuvaszok) is a large, white Hungarian livestock guardian breed with a history stretching back to at least the 15th century, when they guarded the royal estates of Hungarian kings. King Matthias Corvinus trusted his Kuvaszok more than his human bodyguards. These powerful, intelligent dogs are fiercely loyal to their families but independent and territorial. Kuvaszok are more active and agile than many guardian breeds, capable of impressive speed and athleticism. They are deeply devoted but not outwardly demonstrative โ€” their loyalty is expressed through watchfulness and protection rather than constant affection.
